James Baker, chairman of the judging panel, said, "The key criteria the judges were looking for were the professional competence of the individuals and their ability in the design and development process of systems that would satisfy the original business case.

"This meant meeting user requirements and providing the stakeholders with practical working systems that would benefit the organisation. The decisions on structure, platform, languages, quality, methodology and delivery were all considered in some detail."

In this year's revamped BCS awards there are 19 categories, divided in to business achievement, technology and individual awards. The objective was to reduce the facility's carbon footprint compared to its previous location and to drive initiatives across the company to reduce environmental impact whilst achieving a 45% saving in energy costs. The installed Keysource Ecofris solution has produced a 15.8 million kW-h reduction in annual power consumption and a 6.8 million kg reduction in annual CO2 emissions (at full load) with a PUE figure of 1.2.
