    Oracle Bets CIOs Won’t Want to Integrate Cloud Services | real questions and Pass4sure dumps

    Oracle added many new customers for its cloud services in the last quarter, according to its latest earnings report. Cloud service revenues grew 45% in the three months ending in November from the same period a year earlier. Still, it only accounted for about 5% of the company’s total revenue.

    By offering software as a service, platform as a service and infrastructure as a service, Oracle is betting that customers prefer to buy a suite of services instead of point solutions from or Workday “The customer doesn’t want to be the integrator,” said chairman and CTO Larry Ellison on a conference call with analysts. Oracle is seeing “hyper growth” in SAAS and PAAS, he added.

    “This was a nice step in the right direction for Oracle, and was a stark contrast to the softness seen over the last few quarters,” Daniel Ives, an analyst with FBR Capital Markets, told the Journal’s Shira Ovide.

    Oracle’s thinking on cloud has evolved since Mr. Ellison at one time remarked, “what the hell is cloud computing?...I mean, it’s really just complete gibberish,” with the company now citing its rising cloud figures as proof that Oracle gets it. The company has rewired its offerings for the cloud and in October it hired former Snapchat and Google Inc. engineering executive Peter Magnusson as senior vice president of cloud development to help to work on Oracle’s cloud platform.

    The moves are paying off, according to co-CEO Mark Hurd. On September 29, Oracle introduced six new cloud platform services to the seven that were already generally available, including the database, messaging, business intelligence and documents cloud services. Oracle added 140 new PAAS customers during the quarter and three quarters subscribed to multiple PAAS services, he said.

    Oracle also offers software as a service in areas including human capital management, marketing, customer experience and enterprise performance management. The company ended the quarter with 860 SAAS customers, with more than 230 that subscribed to more than one service, said Mr. Hurd. For example, Siemens and Honeywell International subscribed to both HCM and the marketing cloud services. DirecTV and Telus subscribed to both the HCM and sales service clouds. Equifax and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles subscribed to both the sales and marketing cloud services.

    Xerox CIO Stephen Little, a customer of Oracle Fusion HCM and the talent management cloud service Taleo, said in September that he’s hesitant to buy new cloud services. Xerox has a complex IT infrastructure with many legacy systems and applications which he’s trying to simplify. “What I don’t want to do is add cost on integration and have another infrastructure to manage,” he said at a press briefing during the Oracle OpenWorld customer conference in September. The only other cloud service Xerox uses is, he said.

    “Next year, Oracle will sell about the same total dollar amount of new software as a service and platform as a service business as cloud market leader,” said Mr. Ellison, adding, “Stay tuned, it’s going to be close.”
